Q1 2024 Update

Hello Aera Community,

This is our inaugural newsletter, which we'll release quarterly to provide updates on our business and our progress toward achieving our mission of creating sustainable human habitats. The first quarter of 2024was very exciting here at Aera. Our focus has been on building relationships both internally and externally to share our vision, learn, and establish a foundation for our future. To that end, we've brought on a key team member,opened our first office, participated in the International Mass Timber Conference,and conducted several site visits to learn from other leaders in the sustainable building space.

We're thrilled to announce Billy Wood as our newly hired Senior Product Engineer. Billy brings a wealth of experience in product development and a personal and professional passion for quality, sustainable construction. He'll lead our product development efforts, working at the intersection of engineering, process development, project management, and product testing. Billy has been hard at work developing a modular building system that will allow us to construct high-performance homes rapidly and affordably. Stay tuned for updates on our product development efforts. We'll be releasing a series of videos, articles, and social posts as we develop an approach for cross laminated timber single-family homes.

This month, we traveled across the country, meeting with leaders in the cross-laminated timber construction industry. The International Mass Timber Conference in Portland provided an excellent opportunity for us to connect with some of the largest suppliers, architects, engineers, and thought leaders in the industry. We also spent time visiting a few cross-laminated timber construction projects as well as modular production facilities. These trips were both informative and inspirational, providing us with the opportunity to learn from others' journeys and create a solid foundation for our product development efforts.

While this quarter has been very busy, the next will bring many more exciting updates. Stay tuned for the announcement of our first two projects: a pilot project in partnership with Wonderful People Farm and a residential community in Nashville. We'll also keep you all in the loop with a series of videos and social posts as we continue our product development journey. It is our intention to make our efforts as transparent as possible to help future clients learn about the homes they are purchasing and to further the cause of sustainable construction.
